Metadata is additional data related to a photo, this is usually written by the camera into the image file at the time of shooting but can be edited later. This metadata includes information such as the time and date of shooting, equipment involved and settings used.

How to find lens information from image metadata?
I suggest you try:
exiv2 -pa image.jpg | grep Lens
An example from one of my recent images includes:
