Normal lenses are the ones with focal length roughly equal to diagonal of imaging surface (43mm on 35mm full frame, about 28mm on APS-C). Classic normal lenses are slightly longer (50...58mm on FF, 30...35 on APS-C).

Is the Nikkor "AF-S 35mm f1.8G DX" as close to a 50mm as I can get on the Nikon D5100

I have a Nikon D5100 and would like a standard 50mm lens. Considering the Nikon 1.5 crop factor, Is the Nikkor 35mm DX as close to a effective 50mm as I can get with this camera?
