I am 15 years old and an amateur photographer. Is there a site where I can upload my photographs to sell them?

This question appears to be off-topic. The users who voted to close gave this specific reason:

  • "Questions seeking specific product or service recommendations, where the answer is likely to be either entirely personal or short-lived as a result of changing markets, are off topic here. Please rephrase your question to describe the problem you're trying to solve or what you do not understand that prevents you from determining the answer yourself." – Philip Kendall, scottbb, inkista, James Snell, mattdm

What you are allowed to sell at what age (especially if you are not adult) and how in your jurisdiction is a very good question to ask, because there could be all kinds of legal trouble related to this. However, the internet is notoriously bad at answering such questions, because we are no lawyers (and no lawyer would give legal advice for free). However, there's Law, which I suggested your question to be migrated to, which is a sister site of ours that's more appropriate for such questions. – null Oct 21 '16 at 16:59
  • It might be a possibility to ask your parents to sign up at those sites for you and let them operate the "business". Still, there might be issues with this (child labor comes to mind). Again, this is no legal advice. – null Oct 21 '16 at 17:04

Your best option is probably to use a stock image agency. If you try to "do it yourself", there is a very real risk that you will be exploited. – Mick Oct 21 '16 at 18:30
  • You should certainly join a photographic society if you can find one where you live. – Mick Oct 21 '16 at 18:36
  • Besides the legal issues I gess the answer is: Depends on the quality of your photos, and the thematic of them. – Rafael Oct 21 '16 at 23:25

At 15 years old, I would recommend focusing on creating a library and share your work using a variety of licenses (Creative Commons is one I use to contribute back to the public domain).

https://pixabay.com/en/users/bdeanindy-565538/ is my profile on Pixabay.com where I share photos.

This helps you to build a name and reputation. I have used Pixabay.com to assist on this goal, as well as several other sites where I can commercially license my photography to prevent abuse.

However, I have earned far more accolades, credits, and publishing opportunities by first starting as a contributor to public domain assets.

To actually answer your question about how you can sell your photography online and which sites to use, yes...you can sell your photography online (specifically as stock photography), and here are a few places I would recommend you to begin:

  1. Getty Images Contributor Community
  2. Pond 5
  3. iStockPhoto
  4. ShutterStock
  5. Adobe Stock Photos

Execute an internet search for the term "sell stock photography online". I received several handy results including this article from TutsPlus.

Additionally, I would spend time making sure you understand licensing, usage rights, copyright, and the legal agreements you are submitting yourself to (or if you are unable to agree due to being a minor).

The answer is helpful but does not answer the question directly (what is something what people searching for similar questions would expect). – Euri Pinhollow Nov 2 '16 at 20:18
