How bad is a 51% sRGB screen for photo editing?

The screen in question is a 13 inch full HD display.

  • More info about the screen, such as make and model, would be helpful. What are you editing and for what purpose? – xiota Jan 9 at 7:52
  • Is that a manufacturer's spec? Or someone's (your's?) measurement? If the latter, I'd suspect the methodology of the measurement or a failure to properly calibrate and profile the monitor first. 51% is pretty bad. – Michael C Jan 9 at 11:53
  • for reference, photo.stackexchange.com/questions/61817/… ... Note that the monitors discussed would be considered "plain but usable" for photo work, and are 90+ % srgb :) A good quality CRT monitor (that is what the sRGB spec is based on BTW) is going to outdisplay a 51% display :) – rackandboneman Jan 9 at 16:33
  • So, is 51% the fraction of the sRGB gamut that the display actually shows? – Pete Becker Jan 9 at 18:41
  • At least, "shows as the signal source expects it to show" :) – rackandboneman Jan 10 at 21:03
