Mar 16, 2011 at 3:22 comment added thomasrutter @labnut, this question's more concerned about how to do the selection of what to keep. Not whether to keep any or how many to keep.

Mar 15, 2011 at 18:15 comment added chills42 @thomasrutter, these are certainly similar, but I think the other question is more focused on deleting unwanted images.

Mar 12, 2011 at 17:47 comment added You @Joey: There's also the Libraw library and the built-in ImageIO framework in OS X. Shouldn't be too hard to implement something simple.
Mar 12, 2011 at 14:07 comment added mattdm @Zippy: good suggestion. I added the "curation" tag.
Mar 12, 2011 at 14:05 comment added mattdm @Joey — it's trivial to pull the JPEG preview out of RAW images, so I bet you could whip it up in two hours.
Mar 12, 2011 at 10:53 comment added Zippy I don't have enough rep to creat tags on this site, but I think this problem should be know as the "curation" problem, and there should be a "curation" tag.

Feb 4, 2011 at 22:07 comment added Leonidas PS: I like this question. It is an important question. Too many thousands of pictures pile up on harddrives never to be seen and never to be shown because they are not good enough - but never to be deleted too, so adding a lot of useless distraction to the collection.
