Is it better Which one would you suggest to buy a newer low-end camera model or an older higher-end onefrom canon 550D and 50D ?

I love photography and am looking to buy a camera whichslightly confused as I will use seriously, not just for casual snapshots

Assuminghave the price is aboutbudget for either but given that the same,550D is it better to buy a just-released newer model from a lower tierwhereas 50D is better in the product-lineup, orsense that it belongs to a higher-range model that's been out for a while series. Are there any other deciding factors that I missed? I am buying because I love photography and I won't be using it just casually.
