Nov 12, 2020 at 19:45 comment added Michael C With the introduction of the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM in 2015, there's no significant "upgrade" to the EF 50mm f/1.4 unless you really need f/1.4 for low light considerations. The newer 50mm f/1.8 STM corrects most of the shortcomings of the earlier versions. Here's my take on wasting money for minor gear upgrades (like EF 50mm f/1.8 STM to EF 50mm f/1.4).
