Apr 24, 2012 at 16:31 comment added user9509 Sure. Simply put, EF-S lenses are sized to match the smaller cropped sensors. What you have is a lens that's designed for a larger sensor. So, instead of using a smaller center area of your current lens (and filter), an EF-S lens allows your sensor to utilize all the glass (image circle) available.
