I am depressed because of Camera What is a good starter camera for under $350?

Look mates, I'm just totally unhappy because of the 'Camera'. Not because I don't know how to use. Because I don't have one. The actual reason behind depression is I want to have camera, but I'vea very limited budget. I have $350 [USD]. If I buy a used DSLR Camera in used and if it went not workingdoesn't work, it would be mya huge loss. If I buy a compact digital camera, I think I would I be able to do the DSLR thingies with that? Like thethings like blur the background and focus on the subject. What and which camera Which cameras do you suggest?
