I know this is really late but I have a canon eos 20dCanon EOS 20D with a sigmaSigma 18-250 lens. The lens started making a high pitched-pitched noise after several years andafter it was out of warranty, so I removed the back of the lenselens outer ring and there is a cable that connects it to the body. I slid that out and cleaned both connections with alcohol (lightly)( its. I was a pain to get back in, but once done the noise went away for several years then came back which iI cleaned again and the noise stopped. gottaGotta have patience and guts, alsoand pay attention to the rings ( gasketsgaskets) on orientation. notNot sure what it could be, just loosening up or it needed cleaning.
