The "red" (actually more yellowish-orange), "green" (actually more bluish-green) and "blue" (with just a touch of violet) colors of the filters over a Bayer mask are not the same colors as the "Red", "Green", and "Blue" colors that our tri-color RGB color reproduction systems use.
Dec 18, 2019 at 21:05 comment added rackandboneman One could certainly, literally copy a cropped or line/column skipped subset of the rgb values from a raw file straight to the framebuffer of a graphics card, and get a meaningful - albeit off-looking - picture. I guess if you had a high enough resolution display, and a low enough resolution sensor, you could literally memcpy() the data part of the raw into the framebuffer and end up with something recognizable....
