2017 Moderator Election

On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

Photo.SE has been a great resource for me as an amateur photographer, and I've tried to contribute regularly by writing answers, voting, and reviewing. The current crop of moderators have done a great job in building a community that's helpful, supportive, and relevant. I'd like to volunteer to help keep that ball rolling.

I haven't been a StackExchange moderator before, but I've been participating in SE sites for 6+ years and I think I have what it takes to help guide Photo.SE with a light touch.

Hi all,

I am very calm person who will be glad to support SE communities. I am also Passionate photographer and IMHO can be helpful to the Photo SE site.

Romeo

Hi guys! I'm 10 replies!

I wasn't active for the past few weeks (I will be in the coming months/years/forever(hopefully)), but, I love:

  • Asking and answering questions
  • Finding duplicates
  • Fixing and revitalizing poorly phrased questions
  • Assisting new users
  • Bulleted lists
  • sample text

If I seem like an unlikely candidate, you would be right, but, it can't hurt to try!

TL;DR

Pros:

  • Likes helping out on PhotoSE

Cons:

  • Low rep
  • Hasn't done much on this SE
  • dead on the inside

Vote for me!

  • It's a bold strategy Cotton, lets see if it pays off for 'em – dav1dsm1th May 31 '17 at 13:08
  • Ooof, dead on the inside is one thing, but you want us to vote for someone who likes helping? – Adam Davis May 31 '17 at 14:49

I'm a high rep, experienced user who is very active on Stack Exchange and a seasoned moderator on Video Production, Sound Design and Community Building. I'm also a part time professional wedding photographer. I regularly check in on photography and check moderation queues for my moderation sites several times a day. I've been more focused on sites where I moderate recently, but I love this site and would like to be able to focus more effort back here.

I'm extremely familiar with the Photography.SE community and moderators and know how they operate. The main thing I bring to the table is my experience moderating artistic and subjective content on Stack Exchange.

My goals as a moderator would be to keep things running smoothly and finding ways to integrate "Good Subjective" questions on artistry with the community. I want the site to be welcoming to newcomers without overflowing with duplicate questions and make sure that we maintain a high quality repository of questions and answers for photographers of all skill levels.

  • You seem like the better candidate. I wish there was more to choose from, more interest in this sometimes challenging job. I wish you luck. – Rob May 31 '17 at 0:34
