Why the need for SLR in digital cameras? Nearly every DSLR in existence at least has the option of doing this, and on most it is enabled by default. In fact, it wasn't until relatively recently that so-called "live-view" modes started appearing on DSLRs that allow you to even use the LCD as a real-time image display. |

What is a good amount of noise reduction to apply in post-processing? Ok, this is a fair point. I was attempting to make the question less subjective, but this way of phrasing made it seem like I was expecting a "one-size-fits-all" solution. I do recognize that this is a subjective issue that may depend a lot on the photo, but I'm trying to figure out what is "generally accepted" as looking good. Or should the take-home message be that there is no generally accepted "good" amount of noise? |

What autofocus zone selection mode should I use for action/event shooting? Interesting idea -- in most of my photos I spend a lot of time trying to get the crop right in camera, this is the first time I've heard the advice "crop loosely and deal with it later". But I think for this type of photography, that makes a lot of sense. |

Is there any license for photographer? Wrt model releases, this is a quote from the Dan Heller website I link to in my answer: "As stated above, the photographer has no control over what the buyer does with photo they acquire. It's also not possible for a photographer to know or to guarantee that a release would be required. The responsibility lies solely with whoever puts the photo into publication. The photographer is not (and cannot be) in a position to assume the responsibility for how someone else publishes his photos." This seems to imply the opposite of what you are saying, unless I'm interpreting incorrectly. |

Is there any license for photographer? I think maybe we're saying the same thing -- in the US, private property and public property are different matters, and as far as I'm aware, there are very few things on public property that cannot be photographed. Of course it's common courtesy to ask beforehand, though. |
