What would be a good upgrade from my Canon kit lens for portrait photography? I think you mean the 50mm f1.8. The f1.4 is significantly more expensive. |

RAWs looking massively different in Aperture/Mac OS Preview compared to camera preview and (Canon) PictureStyleEditor Aperture is over-saturating the image, specifically in the blue channel. Dial back the blue channel saturation and you will have a much more usable picture. Lightroom has camera profiles that do a decent job of mimicking the default camera processing, if that is what you want, Aperture may have something similar, I don't know. |

Was the lack of video capture on “old” DSLRs an artificial restriction? As noted in @Itai's answer the main problem - even with alternative firmware - is the sensor physically overheating. |

What is so special about ISO 1600? The original title was clear and understandable, the edited title is not. |

Why does my Canon 7D get blurry pictures with a 70-200mm f/2.8 IS (series 1)? Possibly so, but I'm only speaking from personal experience. I know I had a lot more camera shake than I expected when I first got my 70-200 (even with IS) and had to adjust my shutter speed accordingly. |

Is it worth buying a battery grip for my Canon 600D even if I don't care about the battery capacity? What brand was it? I had a Zeikos that drained batteries, but an Opteka that did not. |

How does a short flange back distance improve image quality? Indeed, that's the value proposition for the consumer. |

Pictures of dancers on stage "the D7000 is actually fairly decent at high ISO...not awesome, but really no camera is." Setting aside cost as a factor, the most recent full frame cameras from Nikon and Canon are pretty awesome at high ISO. That said, probably not a realistic option for the original poster. |

Does this sunrise photograph have a problem with white balance? Fixed poor grammer in title, changed wording slightly for clarity. |

What about lens construction influences bokeh? I dare say it would involve a lot more math than I'm comfortable with. |
