comment How do I lengthen shutter speed with out washing out the picture?
Good answer. As an aside, many people use 8-10 stop neutral density filters to do very long exposures in daylight. Polarizers and 1-2 stop ND filters are helpful but the best results are from those strong ND filters.

comment What causes longitudinal chromatic aberration on Nikon 50mm f/1.4D?
My understanding is that with the lens profiles that they will also correct some measure of longitudinal aberrations in Lightroom 4. I should have been more clear that it was not a certainty. But it is a certainty for NX2.

comment Is it worth getting third-party warranties on lenses?
Yeah, it was a surprise for me, too, when I learned that homeowner's won't cover it by default. Same thing is true for coins, collectibles, and computers.

comment What causes longitudinal chromatic aberration on Nikon 50mm f/1.4D?
As an aside there are ways to fix this with Capture NX2 automatically and Lightroom/Camera Raw. But the main thing is right, this is normal for this situation and lens.

comment Is a white sheet of paper as good as grey card?
White balance doesn't require good focus. In fact, it's almost always better to be out of focus when doing a white balance check. it averages out the inconsistencies in the color of the surface.

comment Can a photo with nothing in focus be considered to have bokeh?
Glad to help! The way I learned how to work with bokeh is the old school aperture test. Starting with a wide aperture and going narrower and narrower on the same subject.

comment Are there any mobile applications that calculate sunrise/sunset based on location?
LightTrac is by far my favorite app. If anyone is interested in it, there's another cool feature. It can show you the length of a shadow at a time of day for a given object's height.
