comment How do I approach bricks and mortar galleries to sell my photography?
Thanks, some really good advice in there. I was considering approaching a couple of galleries but I wasn't sure what to take with me. Might sound like a daft question but do I take a sample with me or do I literally just say here is my card or take a look at my online portfolio?

comment What are some good places to sell photo prints online?
If you were to go on the art section of Ebay now there is so much "Erotic" material on there it is untrue

comment Do unframed prints sell better than framed?
I think I may go down this route. I have managed to find a supplier that sells the packs so that you can mount the print and bag it for shipping. It does look professional and I can offer a slightly cheaper price.

I guess it comes down to how you explain the quality of the frame etc. With it being online there is more emphasis placed on the description as well as the image.

I think if I do offer a unframed version then I will mention that the price is based on the cost of the frame and reduced shipping costs etc.

Hi, this question was to do with selling the artwork online. I do see what you mean with regards to the frames looking better in store. I have approached the issue you mention by allowing the individual to see what the frame may look like in certain situations. You can see it in action at www.iconicphotos.co.uk when you click on an item it is at the bottom of the item page.

Some nice info thanks, I see what you mean with regards to the "fraction of the price issue". I guess I would just be deducting the price of the frame so if the framed version sells for £150 then the unframed would be selling for around £100.

comment Is it worth submitting photography/artwork to online galleries?
Nice idea with the Facebook fan page, I have my own site and at the minute I am promoting socially with Pinterest. I was thinking of selling through Amazon as well as an alternative method.

comment What type of photography sells well to business?
Hi, it was my thinking as well that in terms of business I would imagine local images do sell well. Do you have any idea if black and white sell better than coloured images?

comment What makes a photograph “fine art”?
Glad you expanded on that :). I tend to photograph London architecture/landmarks and have seen many examples of similar art in London galleries.

Very good response!

This is where the idea of art comes into the question. The idea behind the question is to find out if by classing a photograph as art it becomes more exceptable from a business point of view to edit the photographs to improve them.

Do you class your photography as art? I know what you mean in terms of what you see at the time of taking the photograph. I am just wondering that one classes there photography as "art" does this give a little more freedom to edit.

Good point about the journalism, I suppose you do need to take into account the type of photography i.e. art.

Surprised to hear that! I had no idea that editing in that way had existed for so long. I guess with modern software the process of post editing is far easier.

comment Advice on packaging and sending photo prints
I think it is down to opinion, I think I read somewhere that someone mentioned that individuals prefer to purchase prints without the frame because that means they are free to frame it how they like.

comment How do I remove halos around a replaced sky in a black and white photo?
Yes I know what you mean, I have just been testing the blend mode on the replacement sky image and have had a some luck with reducing some of the white outline.

The skyline tends to be quite complicated because of the trees etc. That was why I was after a method that would allow Photoshop to take on most of the tricky selection process.

comment How to stop a high F number from appearing blurry?
So If am looking at taking evening/nigh time photographs of an inner city landscape I should really be looking at a maximum f-stop number of say 11? My aim is to create an in focus picture across the entire photograph.
