comment Is there a feasible workaround for Leica M Monochrom DNG files with Apple aperture?
No interest in starting a LR vs Aper discussion. I too prefer the Aperture workflow. I just prefer the LR features a tiny bit more. Lens correction is a great ability -- maybe not as important with Leica lenses.

Have you considered switching to Lightroom? It sells for only about $80. Scott Borne has a set of postings about switching, moving your library, etc. I followed them with good luck. I liked Aperture's workflow better, but got tired of Apple's slow release schedule.

comment Canon Lens EF 50mm 1:1.8 II or EFS 18-55mm IS II for EOS 650D
My daughter has the 50mm F1.4 and the 40mm F2.8 on her T4i. She much prefers the 40mm for indoor shots. As others have said, the 50mm on a APS-C is too long for many indoor shots. While its two stops slower than the 50mm F1.4, that is not as big an issue as we expected (we because I bought both lenses).

comment Incorporating haze into landscapes
The easiest, and cheapest, way to improve landscapes is to follow the "different times of day" advice. Shoot near dawn or dusk. It will make a huge difference.

comment Lightroom Tethering and EOS Utility: How to get LR to accept sub-folders in auto-import?
Not only is LR's own tether inflexible, its slow. I've found that it does some processing (don't know what) after 4 or so shots, and it then blocks further shots. DPP lets you shoot as fast as you like.

comment Can't connect Canon 6D to my computer via USB cable
Right, a Canon DSLR is not a disk drive to either Mac or Windows computers. Don't know why Canon decided to do it that way. The solution is to use DPP (the EOS utility)

comment Why isn't my camera's internal light meter adjusting for my external flash?
Specifically, its the nature of the particular brand and model of flash that Chuck bought.

comment Should I invest in E Mount lenses?
Nit: while Nikon has not changed the F lens, many old F-mount lenses (specifically the pre-AI ones) will not physically mount on many modern Nikon bodies. The coupling prong will not clear the pentaprism.

comment What is a reasonable formula for depreciation of photography equipment?
Zack Arias has a nice video on starting your professional photo business. He says first, get an accountant. youtube.com/watch?v=9l00Ey3n37E The depreciation rules are set by the IRS, and don't have much to do with real world.

They are fairly high, but light travels fast. With a high ceiling, you have a longer throw, so you'll need to keep the power up.
