OK, I have tried to clarify the answer. For me this was obvious in the context of mentioning a software that could help with batch conversion ;-) I hope that it is clear now.

comment Nikkor f/1.8G 35mm or 50mm?
Good answer! You should focus on what you should use the lens for, not which is better. Both of these are good quality lenses. They are very cheap considering what you get. So please decide what you should use them for.

I actually did a comparison of these two in my answer here. But the question was not an exact match.

As @mattdm points out, there are several answers to this already. Please do a search before you ask the question.

comment What are the alternatives to Photoshop? Is Gimp a good option?
+1 For pixelmator. -1 for GIMP, because I find GIMP hard to use. There is a very high threshold to really understand and master GIMP:

comment Should I choose the AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D or AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G?
I have bought the 35mm mentioned here, but still kept my 18-55mm kit lens. I use them in different situation and there is no problem with overlapping. However when I leave home, I rarely do take both of them with. Thus I agree with @mattdm about the second.

comment Do differences in color saturation across Nikon and Canon pictures matter?
@Nir I understand. However I was giving this information to Rebecca Jones, since the original question was about comparing Canon and Nikon.

Nikon has similar functionality. Only the name differs.

comment What kind of backdrop works best for a home studio setup?
I have also tried DIY with fabric. It was cheap, but it was hard to sew them together seamless. When using it is hard to keep the fabric without any wrinkles. The background is not a big issue, but the fabric on the floor tends to have a lot of wrinkles. So I ended up buying a paper background from my nearest photography shop. Therefore I would go for the real stuff directly, instead of trying DIY.
