comment Why is Lightroom 5 running crazy-slow?
Crikey - you're moaning about it taking "nearly a full second" to switch modules.... I DREAM of that kind of performance (2010 MacBook Pro, 2.66ghz Core2Duo, 8Gb RAM, 7200rpm drive, Mavericks)... :-)

+1 -- I was going to suggest Lightroom!

comment Canon 24-105 lens a good choice for Canon 1000D?
+1 for recommending the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM (though it is not officially an L but it acts like it!). A superb choice if staying in the APS-C realm with the 7D. I used that lens with both Canon 350D and 7D, and it was a real star. Outstanding image quality, large aperture, and image stabilisation.

comment Check free space on Nikon DSLR
This is kind of frustrating - I totally understand the OP's question and why he would want to know. I check mine too! However on my Canon I can see this by going to the Format Card menu option (but not formatting it obviously) - but the screen before it formats shows a bar showing how full the card is from 0-100%. Looked in the Nikon D5100 manual online and can't find any equivalent.

comment How to explain to your client that a camera flash does no harm to infant?
Agreed. I have done baby shoots in the past, and always try to diffuse the light from a flash, either with softbox, or bounce. Although it may be safe, even I would not wish to point a powerful flash gun directly at such young, tiny eyes... Besides, a nice even light is better than direct brightness of a flash pointed directly at the subject (no matter what it is) anyway... :)

comment How long batteries last with 5DMIII off?
agreed. The LP-E6's last forever and having two of them in a grip like that should definitely last darn near indefinitely as you say.

I would have said months in my comment too except that I've never left it that long without using it -- lol! :)

comment How long batteries last with 5DMIII off?
Should last a hell of a lot longer than that! I have the 5DMIII with genuine batteries and genuine grip, and I can leave it weeks and when I turn it on they are exactly the same as they were (not that I've really checked properly)...

comment How do I prepare best for my first wedding photography event?
Should also add if you are the sole photographer, make sure your camera is in good working order, make sure your batteries are fully charged (and spares too if you have them), and if possible, have a back-up camera too. The LAST THING you want is a problem with your camera, or for the battery to die on you!!

comment Why is my Canon 5DMIII draining batteries overnight?
I have to say, I have the Canon 5D Mark III, the Canon BG-11 grip, and two genuine LP-E6 batteries, and I have never experienced this issue. I also previously had the Canon 7D and Canon BG-E7 grip which takes the same LP-E6 batteries and never had any issues with that either. Would be interested to see if you solve this one...

I wonder why canon don't use this too... I think they default to IMGxxxxxx.

My DSLR focusses with a 10-stop ND filter and normal, fast, phase detection AF perfectly fine...

comment Backing up iPhone photos to iPad Mini on lengthy travel
Are you sure that even with using the camera connection kit - that you can back them up to the iPad? I'd be more inclined to use Photostream - it'll back up every pic you take to the cloud. If you have iPhoto or Aperture on a mac you can then download them at home.

comment Which Lens is better to use for portrait photography?
I'd agree with this -- the 1.6x crop on the 600D will make for an 80mm effective focal length which is flattering.

comment Is it problematic to mount a Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L lens on Rebel XSi (450D) body?
I also own the 100-400 L, and used to use it on a Canon 350D prior to my full-frame upgrade. The lens always worked perfectly with the 350D and the 1.6x crop factor allows you to get really close to your subject. I used it mostly for air shows, outside, and during the day and the images were stunning.

comment How to repair when a DSLR was infected by computer worm or virus?
You should be able to do a low level format of the card from within your camera menu too... At least, my Canon Powershot S95 and 5D both have the option to do low-level formats. I'd always say to format the card in the camera, NOT the computer...

comment How to enhance details (like freckles) in lightroom?
@JosafatHernandezLlanos you would need either the full version of Photoshop, or an addon tool such as Photomatix to do this. I use Photomatix with Lightroom -- it's awesome! hdrsoft.com

comment Canon 40mm STM - The focus cannot be adjusted in manual mode
So do STM lenses use a "Fly by wire" system for focussing??
