comment Macro lenses, what's the best for quality and closeup?
Hmmm, as I thought from my research, there isn't a good super macro lens on the market. why? I think the canon 100mm is, a great lens dont get me wrong, but 1:1 isnt enough. the DOF as you say with the MP-E 65mm isnt enough and also having to be so close to your subject really means it has to be inanimate or dead. can a teleconverter be added to the canon 100mm to give it a further edge? would this work? cheers guys!

comment Can I use a Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro lens on a Canon EOS 450D?
Hmmm after reading a review on the MPE 65mm I see thebiggest prob is it really doesnt let in enough light to shoot live insects. It seems a long exposure is needed and therefore keeping a live insect still long enough could prove very difficult. Your photo 'above' looks incredible, have you found that there are low light issues with this lens. Is there another lens that allows more distance from the subject, and lets more light in, YET can still take "beyond" macro shots as you did "above"? Thanks!
