Physicist/Artist who fools around with electrons, photons, pixels and bits. Currently in San Diego, formerly of Socorro NM, Orlando FL, Boulder CO, Ann Arbor and other places in Michigan.

Mainly, I've been making 2D and 3D illustrations and animations, writing explanations for things in physics, astronomy and electronics, writing software for image processing and science number-crunching, and teaching the cats to do my work for me. Regrettably, the latter endeavor has been a total failure.

comment Color correction by a reference image, or How to compare images and generate color lookup table?
Having three separate 1D LUTs may help partway, but isn't going to deal well with the case of different cameras, different sensors, different light sources. Metamerism, nonmatching sensor responses, all that.

Are the two photos of identical size and geometry? That is, same lens, same framing, same distance to subject etc. In that case, you can combine the luminance of A with the color channels (LAB or HSV) of B.

comment HDR then Panorama, or Panorama then HDR?
I automate the HDR step by writing Python programs to process the images. The same tonemap applies to all, along with any other corrections or crazy effects. Then I stitch. If I'm not happy with the result, modifying and re-running the HDR step is easy.

Even if the stitcher can repeat the exact same warps and alignments, there's still a possibility of the camera jiggling by small amounts like 1/2 a pixel. Depending on the nature of the project, that can be problem.

comment How to find a good marketing person?
For now, I'm in a small town with little action of any kind. At least we have a good coffee shop. Nearest bigger town is an hour drive away.
