revised What is USM, and what are its pros and cons?
Corrected the reference to the lens. (50mm f/4 does not exist. The f/1.4 lens does exist, and there are references available online saying that the lens has full-time manual.)

comment What is the sound that I'm hearing from Canon EF 24-105mm F/4 L lens?
Indeed, I have confirmed that the 18-55 lens has a silent IS, while the IS on bigger lenses have a click sound and a whirring sound. It's a strange phenomenon.

I have a strange feeling this might be a troll question, but I could be completely wrong on this...

comment Will a dSLR and compact camera produce the same bokeh output at f/2.0?
While you have an interesting alternate viewpoint, I think the focus of the question is on the amount of bokeh, which is influenced solely by the diameter of the physical aperture.
