comment What is the sound that I'm hearing from Canon EF 24-105mm F/4 L lens?
Indeed, I have confirmed that the 18-55 lens has a silent IS, while the IS on bigger lenses have a click sound and a whirring sound. It's a strange phenomenon.

I have a strange feeling this might be a troll question, but I could be completely wrong on this...

comment Will a dSLR and compact camera produce the same bokeh output at f/2.0?
While you have an interesting alternate viewpoint, I think the focus of the question is on the amount of bokeh, which is influenced solely by the diameter of the physical aperture.

comment Does every frame of video (or live view) on a DSLR count as a shutter actuation?
Regarding solid state wear and tear, from my experience I see that camera sensors develop more hot pixels (stuck on) as they age.
