comment Really? Why does a Nikkor 35mm f/1.4 cost almost $2,000?
+1 for mentioning that the image circle of the 35/1.4 FX is much larger than the 35/1.8 DX lens

comment How to focus manually on the eyes, for a self portrait without a remote?
Yes, step 11 is "Repeat multiple times" :-) Good luck!

comment What is white or black “clipping”, and how does one avoid it?
That's a nice photo. If you can't see the clipping that others are pointing out, it looks like there's white clipping in the shirt collar and maybe her earring, and black clipping in her hair in the upper left corner.

comment Are there any affordable digital rangefinder cameras?
We're almost certainly talking about a tiny market. But if Cosina were to produce a Zeiss-branded digital rangefinder that were a fraction of the price of a Leica (just like their current Zeiss Ikon rangefinder is a fraction of the price of an M7), I wouldn't complain :)

comment (How) should I start with film photography?
+1 for mentioning film rangefinders. I guess you could get a digital rangefinder if you wanted to spend $5,000 or more for a Leica, but there are tons of film rangefinders available for dirt cheap that can be a lot of fun.

comment Why does my Adobe Lightroom temporarily pixelate photos after every change?
Right, every change causes the preview image to have to re-render. With large files, it can take a while, especially for some of the more complicated adjustments like the sharpness tools. I've found the pixelated preview is sufficient for gauging most adjustments (exposure, color, white balance)

comment Suggestions for shared cross-platform photo management?
Lightroom is out for using a single catalog on two different systems. It stores file paths in the catalog according to the system its running on, so the Windows system wouldn't be able to read Mac file paths (opposite slashes) and vice versa.

comment What considerations are there when buying a polarising filter?
Yeah, circular polarizers let the light through in a way that any camera's metering and focus systems can still work. In some cameras (not sure if the E-PL1 is one) a linear polarizer can cause problems. Circular is the safe choice.
