Recommended start point for sharpening RAW Images I understand your point, but with Lightroom there actually are some specific values to know. For example, Amount must be above 0 for any of the other sliders to do anything, and Details has almost no effect when set to 100 (counter-intuitively). I've edited my response to be a little more vague, but the OP did ask for some rules of thumb and I've provided mine. |

Is there a noticeable difference between 1.8 and 1.4 prime lens? @JoséNunoFerreira Most 50mm are basically "Double Gauss" designs. See lensrentals.com/blog/2011/08/lens-geneology-part-1 |

What are the cheap alternatives to DSLRs to get “large sensor image quality”? +1 I do believe Micro 4/3 is what the author of the article was referring to, meaning "larger than compact" sensors. Some flirt with $500 (Olympus E-PM1) |

What size is the Canon 550D sensor? As written, this is a pretty simple question to answer, but can we have some more details as to why you're asking? You've presented a list of many generations of Canon digital cameras and generic film formats with no other context. What existing gear do you have? What are you trying to take pictures of? Why are these differences important to you? It'll help us give you a better answer. |

Really? Why does a Nikkor 35mm f/1.4 cost almost $2,000? +1 for mentioning that the image circle of the 35/1.4 FX is much larger than the 35/1.8 DX lens |
