comment What is the formula for percent of frame filled at a specific distance and focal length?
Then it's just a matter of saving $10,000 for a 600mm lens :)

comment What is the formula for percent of frame filled at a specific distance and focal length?
Astronomical units are probably the best unit of measurement to use, IMHO. Sorta. Ok, not really.

comment How do I shoot massive bonfire in order to produce an HDR image?
Good point. Answer changed to reflect.

comment What makes a camera “professional” vs. amateur/hobbyist?
I know that Andrei, but you cannot deny a compact is simply not capable of taking photographs at the quality of DSLR's, regardless of photographer skill level. There's the technical distinction there too. I find it quite easy to spot a photograph from a compact and one from a DSLR most of the time.

"Don't worry, I'm not a stalker..."

comment Are manufacturers' Image Stabilisation ratings for zoom lenses deceptive?
I know out of experience that the EF-S 17-55mm F/2.8 IS is pretty bloody fantastic and that is rated 3 stops (it's a $1,000 lens).

comment Is there a custom firmware for Canon EOS 500D which will improve AF in video recording?
I wasn't even aware any Canon DSLRs could do AF during video. Unless you're referring to AF before actually hitting "record"?

comment What performance-related factors make a Leica camera so expensive?
Also, the names of the lenses sound cool. "Summilux..."

comment How can I find an affordable D-SLR camera with live view and rotating display?
I hate that international naming. Not to mention the "Kiss" thing in Japan. Why, Canon? Why!?

comment Should I buy an original manufacturer battery, or is a generic brand OK?
Also, when it comes to things like smart batteries such as the Canon LP-E6, nothing beats a battery that will always charge because it's legitimately designed to work with the charger not "compatible".

comment What were the optimal JPEG settings for Facebook photos in 2010/2011?
Actually Facebook's photo size is 720 pixels on the long edge, not 700.

comment Can photographers pre-visualize complete camera settings of a scene in their heads?
I love my F/2.8 :) Let's try 1/3200th of a second...

What happens when your camera's dynamic range is more than 7 stops? (like most DSLRs)...

comment How do I properly expose dark scenes containing bright light sources?
There is another potential option, provided the ISO is not too high. Shoot raw and use Fill Light to bring the rest of the scene's exposure up.

comment How do I properly expose dark scenes containing bright light sources?
Yeah, I agree with Stan. It's up to the photographer to decide what area of the scene they want to expose for. As long as your scene has a larger DR than your camera can handle, lights aren't typically the primary focus of a photograph, it's the people, person, or object you want the viewer to take notice of. There's nothing wrong with having brighter (and possibly blown) lights so long as you've exposed the subject properly.

Is there anything great about Auto mode? :-P

comment What are the consequences of making camera bodies black?
That field of Canon shooters is insane.

comment How do you pronounce “bokeh”?
Yeah, I pronounce it using the following words as reference: bo t ke n. Kinda like "bockeh"

comment Why do DSLRs in movie mode have a rolling shutter instead of a global shutter?
Makes it sound tiring, running around in the rain emptying buckets.

comment Best portrait lens for canon 7d that gives beautiful bokeh?
I think for both arguments against the 70-200mm, a 50mm 1.8/4/2 would be the best bet. Even the cheap as chips F1.8 can produce some fantastic shots.
