comment Examples and Options for Clean, Simple Photo Portfolio Sites?
Thank you for posting and sharing your site. It does indeed look clean and modern. To back up what I said earlier, yours is the very first on SmugMug I've seen without all the other "junk." Without asking in a forum, and instead basing everything I'd seen on the dozen or so examples acquaintances showed me, I had no way to know sites of your type were even possible with SM. Literally every site I saw was filled with features and designs I did not care for, and if one has seen a dozen samples of a site used that way, there's no reason to think there's a better option. I'll look at costs now.

Examples of what I'm looking for, as I mentioned, are clean designs similar to A Photo Folio: robbaarongordon.com (split/screen and rotating cover images) and scottmarkewitz.com (full-screen landscape opener) attract me.

Hello dpollitt, This is precisely why I asked the question. I did do a search before posting my question and found most all of the information to be out of date given the new sites out there. Also, I gave the SmugMug example because that is the site recommended most to me, and I've never seen an example that was simple and clean. I asked for opinions in this forum because people HAVE had time to experiment with different customization features, and I simply don't know of every site--and can't visit each site and experiment with every single option possible.

comment What wide-angle, high-quality lens should I buy next for travel photography [Canon]?
Chinmay - The more I research, the more the Sigma 18-35 1.8 appears to have what I'm looking for. Well, specs-wise at least! It's very big and heavy comparatively, and is a Sigma...but if the company has truly changed the build, and if it would substitute for 2 prime wide angles, could be worth it. It's definitely worth testing (once I can actually find one in stock), so thank you.

I'd consider the Sigma since it's very much what I'm looking for, but after a very negative experience with a Sigma lens in the past (I know it was just one time, but it left a strong impression), I'd really have to be convinced. Still, it's not out of the question and I will look into it--thank you.

Michael, I thank you for your thought-out suggestions, but I don't think I'm going to be buying, re-selling, and exchanging all my lenses at this time. I'd like a more practical solution, though if you believe I'll never get a truly professional "look" with any lens options out there on my 7D, then that's an interesting thought...

I don't really need something wider than 17mm, because then I'll get distortion on my subjects. I've used the 35mm 1.4 and haven't found it to suit my needs too well (I travel with a cropped sensor camera), so I'm thinking something in between the 16-35mm zone--perhaps a 24mm? The Canon 16-35 is a contender, but I do like the clarity and fast speed of the primes. Still up in the air over what to consider!

comment Which one wide-medium lens to buy as the main lens for an outdoor wedding?
@Juhele - The inner glass on my Sigma comes loose and was like that the day after I bought it. Unfortunately I wasn't anywhere near the U.S. and never could have it fixed without paying a lot for it. I'm terribly disappointed with the quality of the photos it gets anyhow, and would not feel comfortable using such a lens for a wedding.

@ShutterBug - Poor typing on that non-existent lens..I don't know where that one came from! I meant the 17-55. My bad.

Good question, and yes, I have enough other lenses to make sure I'm okay if it rains. Still, I'm attracted to the reach of the 24-70 or 24-105 vs. the 15-55 so that I don't necessarily have to switch out.
