comment What type of photography sells well to business?
Personally I don't feel that there's any bias other than the choice of the buyer or a brief. I've sold more colour images lately for this purpose, but 10 years ago I was taking and selling more B&W images. Be flexible and adapt :)

comment Using carbon-fiber tripods in cold weather: safe temperatures, precautions, and effects of failure
I used to have an 055CXPro3 and have a tale of woe about the locking clips - if the rubber foot comes off the leg, the bottom section can retract further up inside the next section than was designed. This smashes the plastic collets inside the clamp, and the clamp is rendered useless.

comment Do normal macro lenses suffer the same light reduction as tubes?
@Olin The formula I believe is correct is: compensation=(extension/focallength)**2, and as such this states that for example a 100mm lens focusing at 1:1 (200mm extension) would have a 4x exposure factor - i.e 4 stops. Take a look at [The QuickDisc] (salzgeber.at/disc/index.html) to see a practical example of how some LF photographers deal with this issue!!
