comment How do I use manual focus on my Canon PowerShot SX210 IS?
The distance was in cm, the object was on the table, so was the camera, the maximum scale that gets shown is 1m. What did you mean by "right 'neighbourhood' "? I couldn't understand that.

Thanks, so the distance bar tells me that the distance between the camera and the subject is 20cm. How am I supposed to use that information? Sorry for the dumb question, but I need to know this.

Thanks, I don't have the raw mode. So the conclusion is that the AWB mode is useless when I am outdoors? In the other outdoor photos too, I have the blue tinge involved, in fact I can say, if there is somewhat shade, I am doomed to have a blue tinge. I hope the camera isn't damaged.

comment How do I properly white-balance my photographs when I'm shooting in mixed-lighting environments?
@Jay By mixed lightening, did you mean more than one artificial light sources? In my case I have the tubelight and the day light mixed, can you shed any light on this situation?

You have been too helpful. Now, understanding the zoom and the focal length is altogether a different topic, for which it is better for me to start a new thread. thanks again.

Thanks Andrew, I guessed you would answer something like that. I have just started the search, won't be purchasing anything till I am too much confident about what I am doing. :)

and what is this "Please avoid extended discussions in comments. Would you like to automatically move this discussion to chat?". I don't want to move anything to chat! That'll scatter the info.

Thanks for being too helpful :hattip: I have also noticed that when I zoom to the maximum in my camera, the f raises to 4.5, automatically. Is that a flaw or can be advantageous in some way?
