Is it normal that manual exposure does not work on the Nikon D7000 in Live-View? I don't have a D7000. I (mistakingly) thought a Nikon friend had one, however they pointed out the review I linked - thought it might provide some information while you wait for an answer. |

Is it normal that manual exposure does not work on the Nikon D7000 in Live-View? Is this the same as dpreview.com noted: "Live View aperture control ... When you enter Live View, the camera will stop down to the currently set or metered value (offering an undocumented depth-of-field preview in the process), but what it won't then do is readjust the aperture opening 'live' if you change it. It will honour the set aperture when actually making an exposure, and indeed return to live view at that aperture afterwards; alternatively you can force it to readjust by exiting and re-entering live view."? |

How are the red focus point indicators displayed on a dSLR's focusing screen? Added in product names for viewfinder images |

How are the red focus point indicators displayed on a dSLR's focusing screen? The images come from manufacturer press releases and whitepapers intended for republication. For example, a Canon one I have at hand states, "Excerpts from this material may be quoted in published product reviews and articles." I shall edit the answer and identify the products. |

How are the red focus point indicators displayed on a dSLR's focusing screen? I didn't find a decent manufacturer's cutaway showing the simple reflective system, despite it being used on many Nikons and Canons (even "higher-spec" models like the Canon 5D MkII), so created a rough one. |

What are the cross patterns in this image? @ysap - Deduction. I recognised the pattern, having shot through fences before. When challenged, I thought a link to photo with similar effect would suffice - but didn't find anything suitable. The original question had a link to Flickr, the photo was in a 'San Francisco' set. I found the bay on Google Maps, and a fenceline surrounding Vista Point Overlook - but I didn't find any decent photos showing the fence. Back in Maps, lining up the point and far and near jetties per the photo didn't lead to Vista Point Overlook, but the bridge. Recreating the view in Streetview, there was the fence! |

How can I make interesting photographs of interesting things found on the streets? Ah... I just noticed @mattdm edited the title, so the original question was indeed asking about this specific photo and thus the initial comments and answers were referring to it. However, the edited title is a better way of phrasing the question. |

How can I make interesting photographs of interesting things found on the streets? Keep in mind the lamp post photo is just an example - the question seems to be more about basic composition concepts. Isolation and context spring to mind. |
