comment Hour long exposure of the sun
Why don't you try image stacking with shorter exposures, a process used to photograph star trails. A regular ND filter and a short exposure time may be enough then post process in software such as ImageStacker. I never tried it so I can't really provide this as a valid alternative answer.

comment Is there a 'top notch' photo lab with flexible options in Canada?
@AJHenderson - I print on the 8300 for my own use and it's good but not good enough for sale IMHO. I only want to offer the best possible print quality and the Hahnemühle paper prints I've been getting from my current service are just absolutely jaw-dropping awesome. I've been printing on plotters for a few years and when exposed to direct sun (my own testing on 2 HP and the Canon 8300) some prints fair better than others with the Canon IPF 8300 on a photo paper being the best but still showing significant deterioration after 2 years on the wall.

Sounds good and lots of options but holy expensive: 77.00 for a 16x20 print on a HAHNEMUHLE FINE ART paper. Posterjack offers 16x24 on the same paper for 24.99. I think I will just keep ordering from posterjack and alter the size of my custom mats instead.

comment Should I buy filters or step down adapters for multiple lenses?
Agreed. I have a few of those but the problem i continually run into it that the rings and the filters are from different manufacturers and the threads can bite to the paint that i am unable to separate it. When it's either too hot or too cold, the ring and the filter seize and I have to take it apart when home in a room temperature. I managed to damage the coating on a filter too trying to unscrew the ring.

comment Why does this satellite image of an airplane in motion show red, green, and blue bands with strange artifacts?
Agreed - this is likely an aerial photo. Until recently, yesterday actually, satellites were not allowed capture imagery better than 50cm resolution. This image is more like 20 - 30, possibly better.
