Photographer, tech head, and extreme sport enthusiast.
I'm an amateur who likes to shoot everything from portraits to landscapes. My favorite venues are half way up a 14k mountain, Ontario in Fall, and the Mediterranean at sunset.
I love talking technology, new equipment, and Canon lenses.

How do I choose a point and shoot camera under $400? While I agree with you on a personal level, using a smartphone or iPod does not fit every situation or person. I have already argued extensively that I do believe a smartphone of today does replace a point and shoot here - photo.stackexchange.com/questions/16449/… but I do not believe your answer really fits this question. If someone already has their mind set on buying a point and shoot, and the budget is under $400, this answer does not help at all. |

What Equipment Is Required For Split-Underwater Photography? You can easily add a screen to most if not all current GoPro models. That caveat no longer exists. |

How to shoot an event in a long living room with a large french window on the shorter side? Turn off all of the lights, open up the windows/blinds/shades to bring in outdoor light, add wireless flash units to the dark areas(gel if necessary). Boom done. You could also do the opposite, which would be close all windows/blinds/shades, CTO/or green gel flash units to match the artificial lighting. Or you could gel the artificial lighting if that is easier for you. |

How do I choose between 24-70 f/4 and 24-105 f/4 Canon lens? In a poorly lit church, I would recommend a prime or two. f/2.8 isn't that fast for a moving wedding ceremony without a flash. I've tried it both ways, I prefer around f/2 for most indoor ceremonies. I have also seen many wedding photographers who do use the 24-105mm IS quite often for the other parts of the wedding day. I do think having f/2.8 or greater is a good recommendation for any and all wedding lenses though. |

How do I choose between 24-70 f/4 and 24-105 f/4 Canon lens? "occasional wedding shooting" spells huge trouble. I would not advise such a thing. |

Why would I use a rear gelatin filter over a front filter? Yeah good point itai. I've never owned one of those so I always forget about them. |

Why would I use a rear gelatin filter over a front filter? I do want other people to answer this since I am not an expert. I just answered it myself since I had a few ideas. |

On Windows, how can a user batch resize AND preserve star ratings in the resized photos? I feel that this would belong better on a site like superuser. |

How to learn to predict which lens to use between a 14-42mm and 40-150mm? Just use them. You will learn by doing, taking photos in different situations, using each of them to their limits, etc. Lets say that you have chainsaw and rose pruners, if you are doing yard work you might need both, but you will quickly learn which is better at a certain task just by using them, although they might be able to perform some overlapping tasks. |

Are there any mac photo app that feature fun effects generation for kids? You may also want to try to Google "Instagram filters mac" or similar, and you will find items like this - geekosity.org/2012/05/… |

Are there any mac photo app that feature fun effects generation for kids? So basically you are looking for something like Instagram for Mac? I'm not sure what "fun effects generation for kids" exactly means, but maybe searching for "Instagram effects" is a good start. We have these similar questions that may help already: Is there a desktop application for easy photo effects, like Camera+ for the iPhone? and photo.stackexchange.com/questions/21348/… |

What are the pros and cons of Canon 5D III / 6D HDR Mode Vs HDR using a computer + HDR software? Well, the 6D doesn't store the RAW files when you capture an HDR image so I would say it is completely terrible and unacceptable for my purposes. The 5D MKIII on the other hand doesn't cripple itself so it does store the RAW files. |

What lens is better? The question is tagged as "macro-lenses", but you ask about portraits and action shots, so what is your primary purpose for this lens? |

Sunrise and Sunset Time Lapse Setting possible duplicate of How do you make the most stunning sunrise and sunset photos?. I actually voted to close this as not constructive since this is asking so many different questions it will be difficult for a single answer to ever cover them. Ie. "What is the best setting?" has no real answer obviously. |

Is there a way to use Canon 18-200 EF-s lens on Canon 6D full frame body? Sell it. Buy the 24-105mm or 28-300mm if you really need an all in one lens. I could see wanting to do this with the excellent 17-55mm f2.8 but not this lens. |
