Photographer, tech head, and extreme sport enthusiast.

I'm an amateur who likes to shoot everything from portraits to landscapes. My favorite venues are half way up a 14k mountain, Ontario in Fall, and the Mediterranean at sunset.

I love talking technology, new equipment, and Canon lenses.

No, they aren't. Can you manually focus? Then you can test focus.

Really this is a duplicate of the first question I linked to...

comment What ruins undeveloped film?
@MichaelClark I'm not saying its impossible, just that I'm skeptical. Most home darkrooms are basically closets anyways!

comment DSLR battery drains out automatically even when turned off
@Guffa - Some cameras such as the Canon 6D will eat through a battery quite quickly due to the GPS. Why the GPS does that I'm not sure on but it does. Not saying that this issue is the same but who knows.

comment “Hacking” the FujiFilm FinePix S3300
This isn't really a question. Asking for any ideas on how to hack a camera doesn't seem like anything that can reasonably be answered.

@Michael I figured, but my closest still has light leaks along the floor and jams so I wouldn't call it light tight either.

comment Is there a quick fix for a DSLR which was dropped 3 feet and now won't turn on?
Well it's not like it is a Nintendo NES cartridge that you can just blow into to get working again(myth). The fix is to take it to a repair shop(timely) or buy a new camera(quick) .

comment Is it possible to adjust the user interface scaling in Lightroom on high-DPI display?
Yeah it is odd that the two won't work together on a feature that obviously has great benefits. It is also interesting that Microsoft seemingly doesn't mind Apples huge advantage on this already.

Yes, the quick fix is to buy a new one.

Yes that too John. I love using old expired film for example.

I would follow Jays formula here: photo.stackexchange.com/a/7442/4892

comment Can I use an Canon 2x Extender on my EF-S 18-135mm lens?
I would guess the 18-135mm as that is sometimes offered with the T4i.

I have to vote this down without a link to an example photo. I know that you can't post it here because you have no rep yet, but a link to dropbox or similar is really very necessary.

comment Smartphone/Tablet assistant Apps
What do you mean by "help making better photos"? Do you want other apps that do exactly what shuttersnitch does, or what specific purpose are you looking for the app to fulfill? The way this is worded it seems too broad and any post processing or photography app could be a valid answer.

comment Naming of filters and effects
Matt is right. If you are wondering what post processing is required to achieve a similar look to a certain effect such as nashville that can certainly be asked here. But most preset names are just marketing terms and have no bearing on the actual processing. Sometimes they are related, but in most presets I've used they are not whatsoever.

Also, low light challenges.
