Photographer, tech head, and extreme sport enthusiast.

I'm an amateur who likes to shoot everything from portraits to landscapes. My favorite venues are half way up a 14k mountain, Ontario in Fall, and the Mediterranean at sunset.

I love talking technology, new equipment, and Canon lenses.

comment Examples of Exif TimeZoneOffset?
Sorry, I in no way see how this is "techniques and best practices". This is "Tell me what software does something." Note that questions that have been closed as off-topic can be reopened. Since this was closed as unclear, I am trying to clarify your question but am having trouble getting that from you.

asp - I don't see how this fits into our "on-topic" list, do you? Sure an EXIF tag is used in photography, we know that. But what are you trying to achieve with this Q&A? If the answer to this question ends up being "Yes, software XYZ" then what will you do with that information? How will it be applied to capturing/editing/techniques of photography and not programming per say? This was closed as unclear for those reasons I believe.

comment How can I further decrease the exposure in a studio environment?
ND filter is the obvious answer. Very useful for studio shots like this.

comment How to view a thumbnail for each lightroom folder in a catalog?
A bounty won't make this feature all of a sudden appear in LR :-)

comment Is there an app to verify my phone's camera sensor?
The reliable way would be to disassemble the hardware and look for the identifying model and part numbers; just as a company like ifixit does.

comment PocketWizard without cable
Yeah you can do what he is doing in the photo but that is far from typical. It's a bit more ninja then I would recommend to anyone getting started. Especially at a wedding, normally the less flash the better. I only use flash at a wedding during the reception and any formals as I find it intrusive during the ceremony. For any candid stuff at the reception, on camera and bounced off the ceiling usually works best; in left hand pointed directly at subjects will rarely look flattering or good.

I'm just saying that there isn't a point to having a pocket wizard unless the flash is off camera or you are controlling multiple cameras that I'm assuming would utilize a flash stand. If no flash stand is in the equation, one probably doesn't need a pocket wizard!

Oh yeah, the picture that you posted is extremely common to see from a professional. Except maybe the sto-fen diffuser. I hate those things :-P But maybe I don't follow what you are trying to achieve, if you don't have a flash stand, why are you using a pocket wizard in the first place?

comment UV Filter that best suits Nikon 18-140 mm lens
I voted this question down as it shows literally no research effort whatsoever. With a quick google of "Nikon 18-140 filter size" the answer can be found in the first search result without even opening up the link or leaving Google.

comment Can I use lens brand X on interchangeable lens camera brand Y?
Either you don't understand my comment or I don't understand your answer - but I'm certainly not trying to suggest adding more registration distances. As I stated above "lens mount".

I know we have an older question that has some ideas, just having trouble finding it right now. Might want to start with the [inspiration] tag though.

This is exactly what my answer focused on lol.

comment Can I use lens brand X on interchangeable lens camera brand Y?
I wasn't trying to say this is a bad answer or a bad idea, the contrary. I was just pointing out what I thought was an omission for completeness. I really know very little about this topic so I'm personally interested in the mount aspect.

comment In video mode, why does adjusting the aperture change the brightness instead of the DoF?
Inkista - Your own answer proves the point. You stated "The duration of the shutter speed can affect how "choppy" the final video feels, depending on the amount of motion blur in individual frames.". Individual frames are not "choppy" nor do they have a "final video feel". Those aspects are not applicable to still photography and thus not on topic.

I appreciate what you are trying to do here, but I think the section on lens mount should elaborated on significantly if you are trying to make this a one stop shop for these types of questions.
