@ElendilTheTall this i what I was looking for! A preset, thank you. If you formulate it as an answer, I will mark it.

comment Why does Lightroom only recognise my lens after I set the make?
I have exactly the same problem with exactly the same lens. No idea, why the manufacturer could not find a more distinctive string for this lens model.

comment Do Left and Right matter in how the photo is perceived?
Left is past, right is future, top is positive, bottom is negative thoughts. So a girl thinking about a hard future should stand at the left side looking down; a girl on the right-hand side looking left-top is generally associated with positive reminiscences, looking left-bottom would mean hard past time.

comment How can I best take portraits in strong sunlight, without a flash or reflector?
Your approach would not work on my Nikon D90, but it sounds like you use a more professional camera with a wider dynamic span which allows you to recover details in overexposured areas.

If the subject stands in the shadow at a "bright sunny day", the background will be blown out and the object in the I-have-been-photo will almost surely not be recognizable. The same applies to advice 3: with high exposure the photographer risks losing the object of the photo.

comment Should I purchase a Tamron 70-300 USD VC or Canon 70-300 USM IS?
Reverse-engineered? Not really. Some of the lenses sold under the brand of Nikon are outsourced to Tamron, so that only the upper-budget lenses are still produced by Nikon itself.

I use a Tamron 70-300 lens with my Nikon D90 and I am very happy with it for the money I paid. The lens delivers sharp images, the stabilizer is what I would call good (you can actually see it work!), it is not bulky.

comment Lightroom -> edit in photoshop increases brightness?
I have noticed that exporting images from Lightroom makes whites look grayer, which is why I am excited to read answers to this question.

comment Why do two lenses with the same F-number give different amount of light?
Home sweet home! My favorite IKEA curtains.

OK, so I'll add a link to the solution manual into the comment: log.bitreview.net/post/990025889/…. This links explains what you need to do in order to resolve a "stuck pixel" problem.

That was a very useful reply! Indeed I could correct dark frame using built-in sensor cleaning menu.

If I understand you correctly, there is no way me solving this problem at home? What could've caused this problem? Is this an aging issue?
