What is preventing sensor ISOs from going lower than 100? @JZL: Probably ask on the flickr Olympus E-system group. |

Why is the blue channel the noisiest? @Mattdm: Because Foveon sensors don't use mosaicing, and have equal amounts of sites for all three channels. |

Why does a higher-end camera body like the Nikon D700 cost so much? I don't buy that any of those things are more expensive for the higher-end cameras, given that almost all of it is off-the-shelf stuff. The exception is the larger sensors, which are probably more expensive to manufacture, due to manufacturing variation. |

Why does a higher-end camera body like the Nikon D700 cost so much? Unless the technology is exclusively used in the higher end cameras, there is no accounting justification for allocating a greater proportion of the price of the camera to R&D costs. Accordingly, amortisation of R&D costs cannot drive the higher price of the more expensive camera units. |

What is preventing sensor ISOs from going lower than 100? Very informed - Olympus are faking out their users. |

Why is the blue channel the noisiest? Presumably Foveon sensors do not exhibit this behaviour. |

Why does a higher-end camera body like the Nikon D700 cost so much? I seriously doubt that expensive DSLRs embody more advanced technology. If anything, for Nikon and Canon, who refuse to provide in-body stabilisation on the interchangeable-lense cameras, quite the reverse. |
