Oh yes, and an obsessive-compulsive reader of Jeff Atwood's blog. I have fifteen different articles open as I type this.

"I want my ER doctor to understand anatomy, even if all she has to do is put the computerized defibrillator nodes on my chest and push the big red button, and I want programmers to know programming down to the CPU level, even if Ruby on Rails does read your mind and build a complete Web 2.0 social collaborative networking site for you with three clicks of the mouse." -- Joel Spolsky

Nothing wrong with your answer, just soliciting some more! When I first asked this question, I didn't have the rep to put up a bounty :)

Returning to this issue after some time. The problem with Recovery is that it tends to underexpose the rest of the photo. Light browns become dark browns, for example. Skin tones suffer as well. Well-lit portions suddenly look like they were shadowed.

I know about Save for Web..., and that's not what I'm talking about. It is most definitely dropping some EXIF fields.

Actually the question was indeed more about post-processing, but this is a great reference nonetheless, thanks!
