My mini-bio is here, but I've been professional software developer since 1992, and some of my popular spare time projects include Geograph British Isles, pastebin.com and the forthcoming Ammotin recreational mapping application.

Is a 50mm f/1.8 or 50mm f/1.4 a good lens for portraits in low light? I'm in the same boat - loved my f1.8 and gave me a good couple of years but one too many bangs and bumps to my camera bag saw it break in two :( I now have my eyes on the f1.4! |

Kenko extension tubes or no name tubes? I've used the cheap tubes with that lens - what you need to do is put the lens on the camera, dial in the aperture you want (e.g. in aperture priority or manual mode), then hold down the Depth-of-field preview button. While holding it, detach the lens which will retain the aperture you want. |

Is it possible to convert a film SLR to digital? You can trace the history of it with some links here dpreview.com/news/0109/01091702siliconfilmvaporizes.asp |
