comment How do the stars in this photo appear without star trails even at a long shutter speed?
Color temperature is easier to adjust on spot by gelling the flash as needed.

comment What is lens filter size of Kodak Z990?
In this camera's case, though, having a ruler plus knowing the common filter sizes would give a wrong answer.

comment Why is my D5000 not saving pictures?
@Diana: Not sure how we could help you, when you already left the camera at maintenance... For fixing the problem yourself, you could have tried the recipe in Taylor's own answer here - his camera started working again after cleaning lens contacts and getting a new SD card. For your upcoming shoot, you could rent a camera body. If you're an aspiring professional photographer, consider the usual route to avoid such technical problems - getting a backup body and backup lenses in important focal lengths. Having two bodies will also speed up work when you need to use different lenses.

comment What is lens filter size of Kodak Z990?
Nice idea, if you can find such a filter - 48mm isn't a common filter size either. Closest commons sizes are 46mm and 49mm. Make sure the tape isn't self-expanding or sticky on the outside, which would get the filter stuck.

comment What options are there for good, cheap online backup of photos?
Most importantly it's /.../ fully secure - how do you know that? Do you have any references to a security audit, or are you actually behind the service?

comment How to capture the scene exactly as my eyes can see?
The question body does seem to be duplicate; title and answers, however, are much broader here.

comment Mircofiche image viewing problems
An example photo of the problem might help determine the problem. If you're not photographing the microfiche, then the question is off-topic here :(

comment What gear for Sony off-camera flash sync with TTL?
Aokatec AK-TTL wireless trigger should offer wireless radio TTL on any optical TTL setup, including Sony's.

comment Noise Issue / Canon 5D Mark II
Haven't heard of any RRGB or RGBB sensors, they all tend to be RGGB (because human eye is most sensitive to green).

comment Can video shooting have a negative effect on a DSLR sensor?
Heat issues are already covered by Should I be concerned about sensor heat and the development of hot pixels?

comment How can I calculate the effect of non-TTL flash on exposure?
+1; it's probably worth noting that this calculation applies to direct bare flash, and that in case of off-camera camera flash, subject distance is measured from flash (not camera)

comment How can I know what speed card to get for my camera?
Note that this method of measuring requires already having access to a card that is fastest you'd consider buying.

comment What are the drawbacks of an extender (wide or teleconverter)?
Wow, those must be really crappy UV filters, even the lowest-scoring UV-filter in Lenstip test had transmission rate close to 90% (but a loss of one stop would be 50% transmission)

comment What are the drawbacks of an extender (wide or teleconverter)?
Why would a wide extender reduce light?

comment What Hot Shoe Accessories are Available for a Canon T3 / EOS 1100D?
Does it have to be two-way communication, or would reacting to flash signal suffice?

comment Is it common to have problems with soft images on a 7D?
The fact that some cameras don't have problems with softness does not automatically imply that none of them do. Anyhow... Since you have learned the camera, I'm sure you'd have some clues on the intricacies a new user might be caught by and some hints on how to get accustomed. Those would be so much more useful than just suggesting to change cameras. Thanks!

comment Which filter do I need to perform NDVI measurements?
No papers... Just the curiosity for IR photography has shown me that the resulting images tend to be red-grayish or gray depending on chosen white balance (meaning the IR light affects all color channels, but perhaps red stronger than others).

comment Which filter do I need to perform NDVI measurements?
I have used the Olympus C-2020Z (known for its hot mirror doing a lousy job when blocking IR) with a Hoya R72 and my experience is that IR affects all color channels. So when letting in red+IR, you'd have IR in blue/green channels and red visible light+IR in red channel. By subtracting average of other channels from red (perhaps multiplied by some factor found experimentally through testing with IR only), you'd get approximate value for visible light only.

possible duplicate of sharpness lost in viewfinder
