comment Is there a difference between taking a far shot on a 50mm lens and a close shot on a 35mm lens?
It's a visual answer to the question in the title: "Is there a difference between taking a far shot on a 50mm lens and a close shot on a 35mm lens?" From the looks of it, the first set is actual focal length and the second set is 35 mm-equivalents. @Agent_L: what do you mean?

Yes, but it addresses OP's question whether his old filters can be used on new DSLRs.

comment Why do superzoom designs keep expanding on the telephoto rather than wide-angle end?
Thanks, John. Does that mean that if the lens doesn't need to be rectilinear (non-fisheye), it's much easier to have low focal lengths? Is there a way to be rectilinear down to e.g. 24 mm then smoothly transition to fisheye at e.g. 12 mm?

Thanks for the detailed answer, inkista. Just a comment about "Equirectangular ... works better if you're doing 360x180s spherical panos ...": Doesn't equirectangular distort towards the edges to keep straight lines straight, so even a 180° view would be infinitely wide?

Of course, excluding effects of changes in the scene (e.g. people moving and changing light conditions) and that the stitched image has much higher resolution.
