comment How does a camera without hardware autofocus focus?
Not knowing better, I guessed I needed to make a distinction between motorized adjustment of focal depth (I used the term hardware autofocus) versus software autofocus. The answers have been helpful in clearing up my misconception.

comment Why is my ISO so high in auto mode?
Ah, I hardly shoot with my 7D set to the full auto mode. Will experiment when I'm at home later to see if I can duplicate what you saw.

comment Is it worth bringing a flash for a backpacking trip?
Since my comment isn't specific to flash, but IMO still important tips for you. When backpacking in Cambodia and Thailand, ensure your tripod is securely attached to reduce risk of theft. Other tip is it's humid there so if you're coming out from an air-conditioned car or room, expect condensation to form between your filters and lens. Enjoy your honeymoon.

comment How to care for neck strap?
Michael, which handstrap would you recommend for a 7D with 70-200 f2.8 IS USM. They're quick heavy straining both the neck strap and the neck. Thanks.

comment How to care for neck strap?
dpollitt, thank for sharing. Now I feel better instead of feeling bad from focusing only on caring for the L lens and body, neglecting the neck strap.

comment Can I use a photo of an iphone to sell my product?
I agree with MikeW in his comment in response to Aaron's answer. If possible, do not use another brand or trademark that is visible in photo of your product, especially since Apple has in the past went against other companies. Consult a lawyer or someone with relevant marketing experience.

comment How to write (manually added) GPS coordinates to originals in Aperture?
Thanks for sharing. I really appreciate your help and tips on this. I too noticed the IPTC metadata written to original doesn't have GPS.

comment What does it really mean that telephoto lenses “flatten” scenes?
+1 for one good visual triumphs words, and easier to understand.

comment How can I hold my camera steady?
Agree, it's not easy so improvisation is required. Since I occasionally stumble upon wildlife when I walk (without my tripod), what I do is find a tree branch, using the camera strap to loop around the branch and myself to provide some stability, compose, meter, then shoot. If the subject isn't moving out of frame, I'll even set timer so I don't have to press the shutter and just focus on holding the camera steady.

comment Is a UV Filter required/recommended for lens protection?
-1 for being similar to photo.stackexchange.com/questions/1393/…. IMO If every new user doesn't search forum before posting question, good answers will be repeated and spread out, making it harder for future readers to search.
