Will I regret buying an older lens that doesn't autofocus or have image stabilization with my Nikon D5000? I used the term "retro" in the context of freelensing. The images I've shot using freelensing techniques have an almost retro photo quality. I am not saying the lens is retro. eg. They don't look like images taken with the lens attached to the camera. |

Why don't more people use fisheye lenses as a cheap wide angle lens? Don't know why this got a -1, I bumped it back to 0. The original question was highly subjective. Despite all the mentioned downsides to converting fish eye shots back to rectilinear I happen to like the results of the shots. The extreme distortion adds a nice flair to the shots. There are many awesome examples out there. |

Why don't more people use fisheye lenses as a cheap wide angle lens? Thanks for the link. Despite what is mentioned above with loss of quality the images on that page are pretty spectacular. I kind of like the distortion. |

What equipment should I use for a studio photoshoot (24-70 f2.8 and Nikon D90)? I'm not really digging roman m's comment. Everyone has to start somewhere. Even if it was a paid photoshoot more power to Praneel. |

How do I take a good portrait for a CV or resume? +1 to Rowland Shaw. My feeling is that putting your portrait on a CV or Resume invites discrimination. |

Are there any downsides to using a good-quality UV filter? +1 - I think guarding against dust and lens scratches is an acceptable trade off for some degradation of the image. I'd like to see some studies that show how much degradation of image quality is produced by using a UV filter. |

Will I regret buying an older lens that doesn't autofocus or have image stabilization with my Nikon D5000? I was just playing around with freelensing using my Nikon D5000 and Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AF-D. I don't think you'll regret getting this. I love the retro look of the photos I've taken with this lens on this camera. |

What is 'freelensing'? I hadn't heard of this technique until reading your post. Thanks so much for asking this. I'm going to try this tonight. |

Will I regret buying an older lens that doesn't autofocus or have image stabilization with my Nikon D5000? I also have the 50 f/1.4 AF-S and it works beautifully but then again it's over $300 more than the 50 f/1.8. |
