What kind of photography is still better done with film cameras? FWIW, I've had more luck doing star trails with a digital camera by stacking multiple exposures.(example) than with film, as film suffers from reciprocity failure, where it grows less sensitive over longer exposures. Some films (notably fuji velvia) shift colour due to this. |

What's the difference between saturation and vibrance in Lightroom? thanks for the corrections, I had just based this off my perception, which is obviously subjective. I've edited my answer to indicate this. |

What's the difference between saturation and vibrance in Lightroom? We agree on saturation. for vibrance, @mattdm's analytical link is interesting, I was going off my visual impression of what was happening. Taking a look at how the colors of a fairly colorful photo change as I adjust vibrance this remains my impression. Looking at @mattdm's link, the graph of saturation in:out with vibrance to max, it looks like it is not uniform by color, which may mean Adobe is playing some smart tricks based on human perception. I think the other key is that vibrance has a limit to how far it will push a color, which prevents over saturating a single color. very neat. |

Are infrared DSLR conversion companies safe? What about DIY infrared conversion? can you recommend any links on the AF adjustment process? |

What options are there for good, cheap online backup of photos? @Designer023/drewbenn - there is a pretty common tool for this called rsync, that does incremental backups. A little googling will find some nice front ends for it. |

What companies offer an IR camera filter? Jay's edit altered the question, I'm looking for a filter for a DIY conversion, not a service. |

What companies offer an IR camera filter? The Nikon is more convenient for lens reasons. I picked one up for cheap off craigslist. |

What options are there for good, cheap online backup of photos? For uploading, Amazon offers a service where you mail them a drive and they load it into S3. It's described here: aws.amazon.com/importexport |

What options are there for good, cheap online backup of photos? There's quite a difference in reliability between a good online service like S3 and an external drive in a friends house. |
