comment Does the camera white balance setting affect the raw image at all?
As I said "I've heard", not "I know". I'm not sure myself how WB does affect exposure, but I can imagine it making a difference since I don't know for sure how color information is affecting exposure.

comment What is this “rainbow” effect?
Just take two pictures, one with UV filter and one without, and you'll know if the flare is caused by the filter or the lens.

comment Analysis of a macro shot with very fast shutter speed
Meysam, because if he would have exposed longer the image would be way too bright (since I guess f-stop and ISO was chosen deliberate and should stay that way).

comment In LR smart-collections, what is the difference between 'contains', 'contains all' and 'contains the words'?
I consistently use commas for separating keywords, but the "contains all words" seems to use spaces to separate them. Meaning: Filtering for "bridge london" does find "london bridge" even though it's a different keyword.

comment In LR smart-collections, what is the difference between 'contains', 'contains all' and 'contains the words'?
Additional though: it seems LR uses spaces to seperate several keywords in the filter, so it is quite difficult to search for keywords which contain spaces?

comment In LR smart-collections, what is the difference between 'contains', 'contains all' and 'contains the words'?
So 'Contains the words' is a 'contains all' with full word compare, not a 'contains' with full word compare? Meaning it will need to contain not some but all words when using Contains the words?

comment Should I buy an original manufacturer battery, or is a generic brand OK?
2/3rds at the start. I had generic batteries work for a few month, then surprisingly dying one day after mere 60 shots. This is extremely embarrasing when it happens on a job (and when else would you need your spares anyway) and might even cause a need for a reshoot, which might cost a few thousand bucks (if possible, think about wedding photography).

comment How to speed up autofocus on moving subjects under low-light conditions?
I ended up buying better camera bodies, in the end switching to Nikon (D700) because the focus system was way better.

comment What is the best camera for concert photography?
Oh, and I found Pentax K10D or Nikon D90 only usable in manual focus on events with bad light, while the AF of the D700 does work wonders. So if you want AF you need to good camera body.

Interesting tidbit of information: the Nikon AF-S 50/1.4G (and some other fixed focal lenses) will be about 2/3rds of a stop brighter at F2.8 than the zoom lens. It's counter-intuitive, but F2.8 does not refer to the amount of light but to the size of the front lens in comparison to focal length. So using fast fixed focal lenses will give you another 2-3 stops of light, due to the lens passing more light to the sensor and to faster aperture.

comment How can I get sharp manual focus despite poor eyesight?
Hasselblad added peaking to their newer bodies, too. I'd love to see this feature in current DSLR, especially in combination with live view!

comment What features does a graphics adapter need for best performance in Lightroom?
@Itai, no single core is maxed out, all are used equally. But I thought threads can wander from one core to another?

@dpollitt, speed does not matter if the embedded graphics can not provide the required resolution. And as far as I know it can provide 1920x1080 (full HD) at maximum.

@dpollitt, the "fantastic graphics option" can't run 2560x1600, as far as I know, so it's unusable for my 2560x1600 setup.

@PeterT how can you be safe without knowing? @Jakub, no, sorry, 1GB memory of course. My mistake!! Drivers are most recent, did not help. There might be a bios update for my mainboard, though.

LR at quarter resolution: fast. LR at quarter size: fast. LR at full size: sluggish. CPU is max 50% in all three modes (meaning 2 of 4 cores are at full use?)

Tried the update, there was a new version, but changes in develop mode are still sluggish. I don't want to go back to lower resolution, but this lag sucks for working on pictures :(

#1 check, #2 check - I added my specs above. I'm really puzzled what slows my system. Might try a faster GPU, but which one?

@mattdm, I was pondering to open the question there, but thought Lightroom might be photo-specific, so I ended up here. I'll wait if something arises from here before double-posting.
