How to upload multiple CF/SD cards fast? The using a single 32GB card sounds like putting all your eggs in one basket. Whilst having multiple cards of the same event means downloading is a pain, it does mean if a single card is lost/breaks that you lose a lot less. |

Which Nikon kit lens is best to start with — or should I skip the kit lens? I haven't done any detailed comparison on image quality between the two, but I suspect that you are right, in order to get a wider range of focal lengths there will have had to have been some more compromises made. In my situation I'd accept a slightly lower image quality for the increase in flexibility gained by having a wider zoom range, but your priorities may differ. |

Is high ISO useful for photography? I think I've finally worked out how the experiment works. The single variable this is changing is the position of the amplification in the overall signal path, which is affected by the ISO setting. In the ISO1600 example the majority of the amplification is earlier in the overall processing chain. Whereas when using ISO 100 the majority is later on. The amplification provided by the iso setting + post processing does remain constant. So the conclusion is the earlier in the signal chain the amplification is provided the better, and this is achieved by using a higher ISO. |

Is high ISO useful for photography? But the brightness of the overall image is part of the output, which you expect to change as you alter the input variables, with all intermediate steps remaining constant. |

Is there any significant difference between Nikon and Canon? You said you were trying to decide which make of camera to buy, and as you pointed out and others have confirmed there aren't any major differences between the cameras so it is important to consider other factors that will influence your decision. |
