comment Do cine lenses have any significant advantages for still photography?
@PhilipKendall, ask that as a separate follow-up question.

comment Is camera flash actually harmful to infants or newborns?
@James, I assume you're alluding to the McDonald's case. This was in fact not a frivolous lawsuit, despite its reputation as the "classic" example of such. One link (there are many): lectlaw.com/files/cur78.htm

comment How much does 1 mm get you in a wide-angle lens?
@dpollitt: (a) If you were replying to a specific portion of the question, you should say so. (b) "Clearly" is in the eye of the beholder. A newbie might not know that 1mm isn't much different. (c) Do you genuinely expect me to waste time digging up whether you voted to close? How is that even relevant?

comment How much does 1 mm get you in a wide-angle lens?
@dpollitt, that's not my reading. IMO, Vlad seems to be asking (in part) if the extra width is worthwhile. No need for dupe lawyering here.

comment How many pixels in a megapixel?
-1; I don't think an uncited sentence in a Wikipedia article is good evidence, particularly when (as @mattdm's answer) it doesn't really matter.

comment Why is my Nikon 50mm f/1.8 giving me an fEE error?
Sounds like you may need to pay an additional fee to Nikon... ;)

comment What are the advantages of shooting in burst (continuous) mode?
One disadvantage is that you have to look at and deal with all the extra exposures. That's a non-zero cost in your time.

comment Does it matter which way the camera is orientated for the sensor cleaning to work?
A self-deprecating "this may be uninformed" is a lot different than calling someone uninformed. Clearly, yes, I felt you were being discourteous, and the "sorry if ..." is a classic non-apology. Anyway, I'd suggest you write an answer, since you have more technical content than belongs in comments.

comment Does it matter which way the camera is orientated for the sensor cleaning to work?
@Michael, it seems you object to the "random motion", which is fine, and the clarification is helpful. However, you actually speak in favor of my guess, which is that it's air motion, not gravity, moving the particles. It would be nice if your objection was both correct and courteous.

comment If I swallowed my SD Card would it be readable when it emerged?
Note that even if the chip still contains the information, the outside contacts will be hopelessly corroded (i.e., you will need forensic recover equipment, not a card reader) unless the card is protected from digestive fluids.

comment How to predict when the moon will appear large?
The apparent size is an optical illusion, as @ISO notes in the other answer. Distance to the moon is a 2nd- or 3rd-order effect.

comment How to predict when the moon will appear large?
@ISO's core point that the distance to the moon has very little to do with its apparent size is correct, though.

comment What are the advantages of metal mount vs plastic mount?
Clarifying edit to remove weight of the camera.

comment Is Lightroom 4 quicker if I use a separate catalog per image folder?
If you go with an extra drive, it might be worth your money to buy an SSD rather than a regular hard disk -- they can much faster on random access, which is what the catalog is doing much of the time.

comment What quality to choose when converting to JPG?
Quality is different in different software; can you add some of that context to your answer?

comment What quality to choose when converting to JPG?
This depends on the software you're using (e.g., the Lightroom recommendations in jrista's answer aren't the same in other apps); what is your workflow?

comment What is so special about ISO 1600?
@Rob, this stuff is logarithmic, so the differences there are the same.

comment What are some reasons to not display EXIF data when sharing photos online?
I wonder if you could add some numbers to support your "considerably lighter" assertion.

@Francesco, my apologies in that case.

@Francesco, I'm not sure how you propose copying the bulk of Thom Hogan's site into an answer. The entire value of this answer is "here is a good resource to look at". Did you even follow the link? Please downvote thoughtfully rather than reflexively.
