comment When should one turn off their DSLR?
I suspect removing the battery gives you pretty negligible gain. For example, my D90 regularly goes several months on a single battery, with light use. Do you have any numbers?

comment Should I get DX for my APS-C camera, or FX lenses in case I upgrade to full-frame in the future?
The point there assumes that there are fields of view which are more desirable than others, and FX lenses are designed to deliver those fields of view on FX; on DX, the same lenses will give narrower fields of view. For an extreme example, you'd never put a 200mm lens on a compact camera: it would be far too long. The same effect happens with an FX lens on DX; it's just not so extreme.

Measurable: almost certainly yes. But noticeable to you, the user, is what I assume you're really after. I took the liberty of editing, but if you really are asking about measurableness, please revert.

comment Where does the ¹/shutter speed = focal length rule for hand shake come from?
This isn't coherent enough to be an answer, but I'd assume two key factors are: (a) it's very simple and thus easily expressed, i.e., there is a bias towards 1/shutter rather than 2/shutter or 0.5/shutter; (b) it includes a factor based on the "shakiness" of an average hand. If people were steadier or sloppier, the rule would be different.

Looks like there are similar services in the USA; a search for "digital slide" reveals several options. Prices seem to vary from about $1.50 to $3.50 per slide depending on vendor and quantity.

@rfusca, I'd assume this is a lab job, but either is fine by me. Edited to clarify.

comment What should I do about Nikon D90 intermittent shutter release failure?
FWIW, when I have anxiety dreams, they frequently involve recalcitrant shutters. :)

comment Why are only certain shutter speeds or apertures available?
@rumtscho, it's a reasonable question; why the snark?

comment What is the most unusual household item you've found useful in a photographic context?
Put me on the side of "on-topic". It's clearly useful for photographers. Let's not be lawyers about this stuff.
