comment Can the sun damage the camera sensor? Under what conditions?
Sorry for the late response, I wanted to answer with more than a gut-feeling so I wrote a program to generate statistics about my time-lapse projects. The results are a new (still unfinished) open-source program and the short answer is yes. Long answer: each project varied but I mostly shot with P or Aperture priority mode (Av). Shots with the sun in frame were generally 1/100s or faster/less, although there were some instances where the camera misjudged and would expose up to ~1 second with the sun in frame (thanks to the attached fish-eye).

Generally controlled via laptop using various software such as PSRemote and GBTimelapse, though sometimes using the CHDK firmware or for fast action sequences just a custom made clamp to just hold down the shutter button until the memory ran out. For most Powershot cameras, you can get a lens tube adapter for about 20USD/EUR which has 52mm front threading. Using a couple step-up rings I was able to fit a Raynox fish-eye.

comment Best 32GB SD card for GoPro's HD HERO2?
According to eyeofmine.com/gopro/hd/prof/index.html the highest rate for video is 720p @ 60fps which is 15.8mbps / 8 => ~2 MB/s. From my own tests with Hero2, time-lapse stills are anywhere between 2-6 MB each x 2 = ~4-12MB/s.

I'm pretty sure this is the same thing as right-clicking on the selected files -> Metadata -> Save Metadata to file. I am trying to reproduce the problem, but no matter which way I do it, XMP export seems to be working (for now).

Yes. I have even tried selecting just several photos or just one set of photos - all attempts were futile.

Thanks but if you re-read my question, I wrote that I already tried that to minimal avail i.e. about 1/10th of the XMP data actually was written out.
