comment How can I maintain high resolution when converting RAW images to tiff or jpeg?
You do have to watch the conversion resolution if you're going through ACR though. it'll specify what resolution and bitdepth it generates for photoshop. see help.adobe.com/en_US/creativesuite/cs/using/…

comment Do I need to copyright or license my photos to sell as cards?
Indeed, it'll be much easier.

comment Why are camera bodies relatively more expensive to rent than lenses?
pretty much my thoughts. I'm sure they also require more of a checkout and reset when returned than lens do.

comment Should I turn off optical image stabilisation when shooting long-exposure photos?
ysap - yeah, it does depend more on the lens paired with it, but these days most sense the tripod. though, some of the new ones supposedly sense it and stay on in an less active mode. still, if you need IS turn it on, if you don't, turn it off.
