comment Is it still necessary to stop a lens down on an APS-C camera?
You might want to mention that many lenses are APS-C specific (e.g. Nikon DX Nikkors), so the image circle thing does not apply here. This answer is strictly about shooting with a full frame lens on a crop sensor camera.

comment Is “Ultrapixels” just marketing or is there a real benefit?
Brian Klug did a comprehensive analysis of this here -> anandtech.com/show/6747/htc-one-review/4 . (You may also want to look at the more general analysis of smart phone cameras here anandtech.com/show/6777/… )

@Beltrame: Also, downsampling the image can remove noise from the image. But it can't un-blur an image or make an image that is completely dark into a bright image. Binning the pixels doesn't increase the sensitivity of the individual pixels.

comment What do the AF-A, AF-C, and AF-S autofocus settings mean?
At least on the D7000, this is configurable. The default behavior of AF-S is to wait for a lock because it is intended to shoot stationary subjects. But you can override this and force the camera to take the shot anyway by holding the AF-LOCK button (or you can change how this works completely).
