Amazing! You've just blown my mind, I've been taking dark+hdr scenes with high ISO (to minimize the noise, as you said, cf photo.stackexchange.com/questions/6615/…), but I should have gone with low ISO!

@AnishaKaul You have to have enough distance with your subject. If you want to shoot portraits inside, it can be easier with a wider angle (35mm), else you have to stand back.

Just as a side note, I have myself a D80 too and bought a 50mm 1.8. I wish I had taken time to consider a wider angle (35mm for example), because 50mm on a DSLR is not very practical. It's not really easy to shoot inside.
