How much do I charge for the first time wedding photo shoot? +1 Is this relationship important? Will they affect your future prospects? Don't ruin your reputation for an extra couple hundred bucks. Ask what you think is fair and explain it in hourly wage if needed ($30-$80 an hour) and back off some if they have a problem with it. |

What is so special about ISO 1600? TL;DR I just looked at the bold titles and guessed about what you wrote: "Nothing Special [since] Noise [and] Gain [are caused by] Mechanisms of Amplification [yet still] Usable [with] ISO 3200...6400...[and even] 16000 [on some cameras]." |

How can I justify a new camera purchase when I'm not a top photographer? @Darklantern, you are right. Never use PP as an excuse to slack on the initial shoot. However, I must admit that learning Lightroom has changed my output dramatically. Lightroom is as close to a silver bullet as you can get. Some people may disagree, but that's because they haven't spent enough time learning it. I know I couldn't figure out why people liked it so much when I started. I often take candid shots where I can't setup and Lightroom allows me to salvage even bad photos. FYI, I took Photoshop in college and have used it for years. |

What are the risks of using Magic Lantern? My understanding is that the only change that is done to your camera is to enable the "bootdisk" flag, which is a very minor change. Yes. I have one memory card with, and one without, magic lantern so I can choose when I want to run it. ML does not install/live on your camera. It's like a gameboy cartridge except on an SD/SDHC card. |

Is there a use case for a browser-based raw previewer? The use-case is this: you have a server with archives of thousands of raw images. Your photographers/editors need to login and search through some of the images rather than trying to download them all to their computer and sort through them. JPEG previews would also do this job. |

How to edit the exposure/contrast of two different areas of a photo with a smooth transition between the two parts? @Samuel, whatever the answer. I would love to see an edit with your final image when you are done. |

Do I really need a fast 50mm lens? +1 The 50mm is an awesome buy. For price/feature ratio I just can't imagine anything else topping it. Good lenses start at 3x it's price so it's hard to justify not buying it when it has so many uses especially for people wanting something to complement their 18-55mm when starting out. I'm personally looking at a 24mm now to offset the 1.6x crop the T[123]i's have. |

Can I photograph people publicly, in the USA, without their consent? I am a web developer so it would be my own blog/gallery with no ads or commercial aspects what-so-ever. I just want to freely share photos I take. |
