I'm an enthusiast amateur photographer from the Netherlands. My main two interests in photography are urban exploration and portrait/model shoots. I used to do same basic astrophotography in the past.

How do I set the proper exposure for nighttime moon photos? +1: very good point about the spot metering. You only care about the moon not the rest of the night sky. |

What is the best way to micro-adjust a lens? Priedhorsky: Your suggestion looks very good as well. I think they are both technically sound, it's just a matter of taste. I personally don't like scissors ;). |

How can I get a good HDR image from a single RAW file? Split up the questions and the answer: Can you show us an example (including exposure and Photomatix settings)? What processing do you do on the single RAW to get the 3(?) exposures? |

How can a lens like a 18-55mm have more than one focal length? I suggest you ask separate questions next time. |

What should one consider when choosing a style of tripod head? Good point about the tension! I had a few occasions my camera tumbled over. I believe the Manfrotto hydrosatic ball heads don't have this issue since they use a different mechanism. |

What should one consider when choosing a style of tripod head? +1: very complete answer. The choice depends on what you want to photograph and how important the framing is. A ball head is quick and easy to use but lacks control if you want to fine-tune the framing. In the situations you need full control over framing use a 3 way head or geared head. |

What is ISO and how does it affect my photos ISO comes from ISO standard 12232:2006. ISO = International Organization for Standardization (although the acronym should actually be IOS! :) iso.org/iso/iso_catalogue/catalogue_tc/… |

What are some of the best spots in New York City to take really good pictures? Tagged as subjective since 'best spot' depends highly on what you want to photograph (street/urban/architecture). |

How can timelapse sequences be shot without in-camera support? +1: If you're using a Canon the TC80N3 is a great tool. I used it extensively for multiple timed exposures for astrophotography. |

How can I get a good HDR image from a single RAW file? +1 Good answer but sometimes the 2EV difference might already be too much if the image is not well exposed. |
